November 2009 Newsletter
Personal Invitation from the President of your local Alumni Chapter -- which has become a tradition
Your local chapter's Annual Holiday Party and Food Drive will be held at Willhoite's Restaurant located at 432 S. Main Street in Grapevine on Saturday, December 5, 2009, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Willhoite's phone number is 817-481-7511. Parking lot is on Main St. across from Willhoite's. There is additional parking by the train station.
Party Activities
11:00 AM until 2:00 PM
- 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM -- Caricature Artist -- Don't miss this!!
- Huge all you can eat delicious turkey/hame/sausage buffet with a complete salad and dessert bar setup prepared by the chefs at Willhoite's
- Door prizes for both children and adults
- Soft drinks/coffee plus each adult will receive one drink ticket for draft beer/wine.
- Special Chapter Bonus Award Presentation
- Presents for everyone who attends - presented by Santa!
- 50/50 Raffle!!
COST for all of this (what a bargain!) is only:
- $12 for adults and teenagers (13 and older)
- $5 for children between the ages of 5 and 12 (free for thise 4 and younger)
- Bring tow or more cans of food/person or case. This will be donated to the Salvation Army to help the less fortunate at this time of year.
Remember: Chapter dues for the 2009/2010 "dues year" must be paid to attend. (Dues of only $15 have remained the same for the past 19 years.)
To attend, you must complete the reservation form and return it. All paid reservation must be received no later than Saturday November 25th!!

Alumni Admissions
Our PSU high school recruiting efforts in the DFW area continue to be extremely successful. We currently have 53 students from the DFW area attending Penn State this Fall!!!

Scholarships Awarded to DFW North Texas Area Students Attending Penn State
We are pleased to announce that this past year, the Penn State Chapter of North Texas awarded $3,700 in scholarships to students from the North Texas area attending Penn State University. We'd like to thank everyone who made contributions and supported our Alumni Chapter in this effort.
Upcoming Events
Penn State night at the Dallas Stars
Join us on Saturday February 6th to watch the Dallas Stars take on the Phoenix Coyotes. We have reserved a block of tickets for the chapter, and have secured two types of tickets. Tickets to the game are $20 person. Or, you can choose the hot dog and soda ticket for $26. Each $26 ticket includes a voucher for a hot dog and soda.

- Time: 5:00 PM CST
- Where: American Airlines Center
- Cost: $20 per ticket, or $26 for ticket, hot dog, and soda.

Info Regarding Newsletter Mailings & E-Mails
The Chapter currently offers distribution of your newsletters via hard copy or e-mail. Due to the costs associated with producing the newsletter, we normally distribute the newsletters for March, June, August and December. At other times during the year (almost monthly) we have updates for what's going on in the Chapter. These updates are posted on this website and are also e-mailed to anyone who has indicated they wish to receive their newsletter via e-mail. Due to the cost, we do not send out the updates via hardcopy.
In reviewing our database we have found that many members have provided an e-mail address but have indicated that they want a hardcopy newsletter. By choosing this option you are not receiving the updates electronically.
We would like all members to review their information on the Member's List at the Chapter's website to ensure they have selected the correct option for newsletter mailings. If you don't remember how to use the website, please see the instructions below.
GET YOUR NEWSLETTER & UPDATES VIA E_MAIL
From this home page:
- Choose the Member List option
- Key in your user name and password. (if you've lost this, send an e-mail to webmaster@psudallastx.com)
- Choose the view/edit profile option
- Add your e-mail address in the box for "e-mail"
- Click on the box for "receive e-mail updates"
- Go to the bottom of the page and click on "update details"
From then on we will send out updates/newsletters to you via e-mail. You can always go in and update your profile if you change e-mail providers.
